Privacy policy

Last updated: 28 September 2026 · Covers the Soltide app for iPhone and Apple Watch, and this website.

The short version: Soltide has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Your light log, settings, places and anything read from Apple Health or Calendar stay on your own devices. To get the forecast, the app sends Apple Weather an approximate area — never your exact location. We run no servers for the app and receive no data from it.

Who we are

Soltide is published by bypop.dev. The app sends us no personal data; what this website processes is described under This website. Questions about privacy or your data: [email protected].

What stays on your iPhone

• Your light log: sessions you time, minutes you add, and daily totals.
• Your settings: wake time, bedtime, goal, when you can get outside, reminders and appearance.
• Your places: the coordinates Soltide works from, rounded to about 1 km, or the city you chose.
• Widgets and your Apple Watch get the day's plan from your iPhone. Sessions you time on the watch are sent back to your iPhone directly, between your own devices.

None of this is sent to us. We have no copy and no server that stores it.

Apple Health

If you allow it, Soltide:

• reads Time in Daylight (recorded by Apple Watch) to fill in your light log, and, for Insights, your sleep, to show it next to your light;
• writes your timed light sessions to Apple Health.

Widgets and your Apple Watch show today's daylight total. If you have Soltide Pro and an Apple Watch, that total can include your Time in Daylight from Apple Health. It's stored in the app's shared container on your iPhone and on your watch so the widgets and complications can show it, and it stays on your own devices.

Health data is read on your iPhone when it's needed and never leaves your devices: it isn't sent to us or anyone else, isn't used for advertising, and is never included in analytics — Soltide has none. You can change what Soltide may read or write at any time in the Health app.

Calendar

If you turn on Plan around my calendar (Soltide Pro), Soltide reads when your events make you busy, on your iPhone, so it only suggests light when you're free. Nothing from your calendar is stored or sent. Add to Calendar opens the system editor; an event is saved only if you save it.

Location and weather

Soltide uses your location to work out the sun's path and fetch the weather. It asks for access only while you use the app, and everything works without it: you can choose a city instead.

• For the sun maths, your location is rounded to about 1 km on your iPhone.
• For the forecast, the app asks Apple Weather (WeatherKit) directly. It sends only the centre of an area about 10 km across, never your precise position, and refreshes the forecast at most every 3 hours. No Soltide server is involved.
• Apple states that the location sent to WeatherKit is used only to provide the forecast, isn't stored and isn't used to track you. Like any web request, Apple sees your device's IP address. See Apple's privacy policy.
• To show a place's name, or when you search for a city, Soltide uses Apple's geocoding service in iOS, under Apple's privacy policy.

Notifications

Reminders are scheduled on your iPhone. No push service is used and nothing is sent to us.

Purchases

Soltide Pro is a one-time purchase through the App Store. Apple processes the payment, and the purchase is verified on your iPhone with StoreKit. We receive no personal information about buyers, only aggregated sales reports from Apple.

What Soltide doesn't do

• No account or sign-in.
• No analytics, crash-reporting or advertising code.
• No tracking across apps or websites, and no data sold or shared with data brokers.

If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers in iOS (Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Analytics & Improvements), Apple may share anonymized crash reports and usage data with us. That's Apple's opt-in, under Apple's privacy policy.

Deleting your data

Everything is on your iPhone, so you delete it yourself:

• Settings ▸ Reset Soltide clears your log, settings, reminders and widgets on your iPhone.
• Deleting the app removes all of its data from your iPhone and Apple Watch.
• Sessions saved to Apple Health stay there — manage or delete them in the Health app.

We hold no copy, so there's nothing to request from us. If you have questions, write to [email protected].

This website

Everything above is about the app. This website is separate: it uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see how people find it, but only if you click Accept in the cookie banner. Until then no analytics script is loaded and no cookie is set.

• What is collected, if you accept: pages viewed, how you arrived (for example a search engine or a link), approximate location at country or city level, device, browser and language, and interactions such as scrolls, outbound clicks and time on page. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. Advertising features and Google signals are not enabled, and no data is used for ads.
• Cookies: _ga and _ga_1XF4D6S2BR, set on this site's domain, which distinguish visitors and sessions. They expire after up to 2 years.
• Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw it at any time with the Cookie settings button at the bottom of the page; withdrawing deletes the cookies.
• Who processes the data: Google Ireland Limited, as our processor. Data may be transferred to Google LLC in the United States under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. See Google's privacy policy and how Google Analytics safeguards data.

If you reject, or never answer, nothing is sent to Google. Your choice is remembered in your browser's local storage. We use no other cookies, tracking pixels or ads. Fonts and scripts are served from this site. The "Try it" demo runs entirely in your browser. It doesn't ask for your location: it guesses a nearby city from your device's time zone, and remembers the city and wake time you pick in your browser's local storage. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) processes standard technical data, such as your IP address, to deliver the pages and protect the site.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask for access to, correction or deletion of personal data we hold about you, restrict or object to its processing, and ask for a copy in a portable format. Since Soltide keeps your data on your device, we usually hold none. You can also complain to a data protection authority — in Poland, the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO).

Children

Soltide is a general wellness app. It doesn't knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published here with a new date. A change that added any data collection would be announced in the app's release notes first.
